Voyages of the Great Explorers
Inaugural Voyage - Singapore to India- begins March 5th, 2010

Following the route of history’s great sea explorers whose travels shaped much of the known and the new world set the theme for Cruise West’s Voyages of the Great Explorers, a 335-day circumnavigation of the world. Departing Singapore on March 6, 2010, Cruise West’s flagship, the 120-guest, all-suite Spirit of Oceanus will sail westward, following the sun, to return to Singapore on February 3, 2011.
The Voyages of the Great Explorers includes visits to 242 ports of call in 59 countries and 85 UNESCO World Heritage Sites while crossing 14 seas and oceans, transiting three canals, Port Suez/Port Said (Suez Canal transit); Corinth Canal/ Corinth (Mycenae/Nafplion); and the Colon/ Panama Canal, as well as a voyage tied to The Famed Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Scotland’s colorful military musical spectacular.
Further exploration by Zodiacs and included "Ultimate Explorer" experiences will bring guests even closer to spectacular world natural and historical wonders. These world cruises will boast world renowned guest lecturers, local experts and onboard Exploration Leaders who will expand upon the significance of the cultural and historical highlights as well as the explorers who left their mark.

Chapter 1: Marco Polo - Ancient Trade Routes of the Mystic East
The first leg of this cruise travels from Singapore to Alexandria, Egypt! From March 5th to May 5th, 2010, the Spirit of Oceanus will chart a course reminiscent of the spice trade routes of 13th century explorer Marco Polo.
These four exciting world cruise voyages recall Marco Polo’s travels along ancient trade routes from Southeast Asia to the Mediterranean Sea. Your cruise will depart from Singapore, sampling such jewels as Thailand and Burma, before exploring the Indian sub-continent and Sri Lanka. Then it’s on to historic Iran, the bustling United Arab Emirates, the storied antiquities of Oman, Jordan, and Egypt with an unforgettable Suez Canal transit, before concluding in Alexandria.

Chapter 2 of the world tour travels the Mediterranean from Alexandria to Honfleur, France. The ship cruises from May 4th to July 20th, 2010. This small ship route hugs the shore line, traveling to exotic ports that large ships can never reach.
Explore sun-drenched islands where gods and goddesses once meddled in the affairs of mortals. This world cruise chapter begins in Alexandria and sails on to destinations in Greece and Turkey where Odysseus once famously wandered, as well as Delphi, Olympia, the Corinth Canal and Ephesus. You’ll also savor the cultural richness and sensory pleasures of Tunisia, Algeria, Italy, Sicily, Malta, Spain, Portugal and France.

Explore the Scandinavian region and northern Europe, traveling across the north Atlantic to Canada. Chapter 3 leaves from Honfleur on July 19th, 2010 and ends in St. John's, Canada on September 7th.
Inspired by the heroic exploits of the Vikings, these three world cruise voyages combine towering glaciers, glittering capitals, leisurely days at sea and two continents. You’ll depart from Honfleur, France explore Ireland, the Orkney Islands and Scandinavia, the enchanting cities of Tallinn, St. Petersburg, London and Edinburgh. Then, you’ll cross the Atlantic, in the wake of courageous Leif Eriksson, stopping in the Faroe Islands, Iceland, and Greenland before arriving in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
