Columbia River Itinerary
Day 1
Transportation provided from Spokane, WA. to your vessel on the Snake River. Lunch is served enroute. Freshen up, meet the crew. You’re off for an adventure on the Hell’s Canyon Jet Boats. Enjoy a thrilling ride up to “Hell’s Canyon”. Enjoy a narrated journey through the canyons and a leisurely stop along the river to unwind. Later, head back to the Island Spirit and enjoy dinner. Quiet evening dockside. It’s early to bed after a full day. L,D
Day 2
A leisurely day of river cruising. We’ll transit the various locks on the Snake River. Transit 2 locks today. The Lower Granite and Little Goose dam. Your Captain narrates along the way. You’re following the trail of Lewis and Clark. Enjoy a presentation on local history and “Marmes Man”, the 10,000 year old remains found in the region. Today we stop at a riverfront park and marina. Enjoy a evening campfire and barbecue (weather permitting.) Anchor tonight in the Palouse Canyon. B,L,D
Day 3
Snake River cruising. Transit 2 locks today. (Lower Monumental Lock and Ice Harbor Lock.) Your Captain points out a tremendous example of Columnar Lava flows – learn about the tremendous ice age floods and their impact on the geology of the region. You’ll also enjoy a tour of a local wind farm and learn about the tremendous power it generates. Afterwards, visit Sacajawea park and interpretive exhibit. Dock tonight in Richland, Wa. Learn about the WWII legacy of the area. B,L,D
Day 4
Morning cruising, then port after lunch at Arlington, Or. We visit a Small town heritage museum later this afternoon-Condon, Or. There’s a 1800’s cabin, local jail, barber shop and more to visit. This evening it’s an authentic “Old West” cookout and chuck wagon. Docked tonight in Arlington, Or. B,L,D
Day 5
Cruise to Hood River, Oregon. The views of Mt. Hood are spectacular from this point. Enjoy views of the orchards and Mountains. Enjoy the view of the river from this scenic vista 730’ above sea level. Enjoy views of Washington’s Mt. Adams from this area. Watch for “windsurfers”. This part of the river is quite windy at the Hood River gorge. We’re cruising the “National Scenic Corridor” of this river. Evening entertainment on board. Dockside in Hood River, Oregon B,L,D
Day 6
We’ll visit the Bonneville Lock and dam. Thrill to the Powerhouse tour and salmon ladders. You’ll learn a lot about the tremendous electrical power and conservation efforts of the Lock and dam system. Enjoy spectacular views of the Columbia Gorge Region and visit the Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center. This area has some 4000 foot high canyon walls. Visit Spectacular – “Multnomah Falls”. A tremendous Rock Bridge crossed over the Columbia at this area about 10,000 years ago. Later today, enjoy the River town of St. Helens. Shop and stroll.
We’ll be moored on Sand Island in the Columbia just across from town. The crew runs our shuttle from your Private Riverside Island to town and back for visits. B,L,D
Day 7
This morning, take a leisurely walk around the island before departure. We’re bound for the Pacific Ocean and the riverfront town of Astoria, Or. This afternoon we enjoy a private Riverfront Trolley ride and visit to the wonderful Columbia River Maritime Museum. (It’s one of the best on the west coast!) B,L,D
Day 8
Today you’ll get to see the famed Columbia River Bar. An awesome view of the Pacific awaits! The coach takes us to Cape Disappointment lighthouse and interpretive center. Our park ranger acts as our docent and informs us about the maritime history of the area. Visit the jetty and beach. Lot’s to see and do today. Later this evening, enjoy a farewell dinner aboard ship. B,L,D

Timing: Guests should be in Spokane by 11am for pickup on day 1. Guests should plan flights out of Portland, Oregon between 12:30 and 3pm.
