Dear Followers of USA River Cruises,

As many of you know, our home office is located in Vancouver, Washington. Many of you are also aware of the massive mudslide that recently occurred in Northern Washington. The rescue efforts are ongoing, and the amount of the devastation, missing persons, and lives lost is overwhelming.

We are sharing this story on behalf of our owner’s husband. A colleague of his through work not only lost her home, but her husband and three of her children:

Milestone Retirement Communities manages an assisted living community, Cascade Valley, in Arlington, WA that is 10 miles or so west of the landslide that hit Oso last Saturday.  One of Cascade’s staff members, Jonielle Spillers, lost most of her family in the event (her husband and three children ages 2, 7 and 10 are missing and presumed dead).  Jonielle was at work and not in the home, and one of her other children, her 4 year old son, was also not at home. They are both staying at a local shelter and lost everything in the disaster.

A fund has been established at US Bank on her behalf.

The details are as follows:

“The Jonielle Spillers Family Fund”

Account Number: 153564726179

At moments like this, we reflect on just how much those close to us mean in our lives.  We often find these horrendous events bring us closer to loved ones and we understand just how dear they are to us.  Please keep Jonielle and Jacob in your thoughts and prayers as they face tremendous loss and uncertainty.

If you can assist Jonielle in this time of need, it would be truly appreciated. The American Red Cross is also accepting donations for all the affected persons in Oso.
