We invite you to celebrate the holiday season in an extraordinary way when you sail on our Sea of Cortez cruise. There will be a host of activities such as kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, hiking, Zodiac cruises, or just relaxing on deck. If there are reports of whales nearby, we will cruise out for a search. During the night, our “floating lodge” will be under way and the next morning you will awake in another unique and beautiful part of the Sea of Cortez.

In December, temperatures are typically in the 70s, the sky is clear blue from sunrise to sunset and while on our Sea of Cortez cruise, you will experience an ocean that is teeming with life, with platoons of pelicans, dolphins surfacing and the antics of rays and boobies! This is an extraordinary place — it’s dramatic, full of life with endless possibilities to walk, swim, snorkel and kayak.

Joining our 6-person expedition team will be National Geographic photographer Flip Nicklin(Dec. 15).

Day to Day Itinerary

DAY 1 — U.S./Los Cabos or La Paz, Mexico/Embark La Paz

Transfer from Los Cabos Airport or La Paz Airport to the ship at La Paz and embark. (D)

DAY 2-7 — Exploring the Sea of Cortez

Along with their designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the islands of the Sea of Cortez are a playground of exploration. Throughout your voyage you will have a tremendous selection of activities — from Zodiac cruising and snorkeling to kayaking and hiking. Or take part in yoga and stretching classes on deck. We’ll put our 30 years of experience in the Sea of Cortez to work and, with many options in place, find the best possible opportunities each day.

Track whales and bottlenose dolphins near Isla Danzante. Explore islands such as Isla San Jose or Isla Santa Catalina, with its giant cacti and extraordinary bird and marine life. Take in a beach barbecue beneath a starry sky. Spend time searching for whales, dolphins, sea lions and other wildlife amid the rich waters.

Explore the seaside town of Loreto and journey into the Sierra de la Giganta mountains to visit San Javier Mission, the second oldest mission in the peninsula. Kayak along the cliff-lined coast of Isla Espiritu Santo and swim and snorkel with sea lions at Los Islotes. (B,L,D)

DAY 8 — La Paz/Disembark/Home

After breakfast, disembark in La Paz and tansfer to the airport for your flights back home. (B)
