From New York Harbor, cruise on the Hudson River thru the Erie Canal to Lake Ontario! During these first few days, you’ll visit the beautiful Kingston, NY with an optional tour of Hyde Park before watching the Grande Mariner’s unique retractable pilot house lower for the canal passage. You’ll visit small riverside towns, like Rome, Oswego and Ogdensburg, New York. Halfway through your cruise, the ship will journey down the St. Lawrence Seaway. The 1000 Islands region is dotted with beautiful castles and gardens. Have your camera ready! You’ll visit the classically French-inspired Quebec City, situated on the river, before continuing further North along the river to the Saguenay. The cold waters of the Saguenay River have attracted Beluga whales who now make the region their home. Onboard the ship, a local naturalist will host presentations about the wildlife along the river, and point out interesting views along the cruise. You’ll be treated with a second day in Quebec City before enjoying three days in Montreal! Instead of disembarking in a city and only seeing the airport before you fly home, the Grande Mariner will dock in Montreal with plenty of time for you to see all the sights, including the Notre Dame Basilica, Olympic Park, Old Montreal, or other options around town.

Go Where the Big Ships Cannot

Blount carries on the tradition of ship builder and company founder, Luther Blount, who made it his mission to build boats that could take vacationers to the same destinations he wanted to go to. One of his biggest achievements was the creation of the retractable pilot house. Mr. Blount created it specifically for ships to cruise the Erie Canal. He also created the patented bow ramp that makes it possible for passengers to walk from the ship directly to shore.

Blount ships have a Bring Your Own Bottle policy. The ship provides the mixers and the bartender; you bring your favorite alcohol, and you can enjoy the cocktails of your choice without overpriced bar tabs.
