Your Itinerary

    1Embark in Sitka
As you settle in your cabins, and get a chance to meet the crew, we’ll begin to sail thru Sitka Sound. Take a walk on the deck with your camera for views of Mt Edgecumbe.

    2Krestof Sound/Nakwasina Sound
In the sound you’ll be surrounded by the Baranof Island forest on one side, and small islands on the other. Watch for black bears on shore, as well as sea lions and eagles.

    3Icy Strait
Start the morning with on-deck yoga, or head out on the water via paddle boards or skiff. If you’re feeling like a land-lover today, put on some boots and head out on a forest hike with our guides.

    4Glacier Bay National Park
Glacier Bay NP is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve. A Park Ranger will join us onboard to answer all your questions – and even the questions who haven’t thought of yet! On South Marble Island, you’ll see sea lions and birds fighting for position, including puffins and black oystercatchers. In the inland shores are mountain goats and bears looking for food. Two tidewater glaciers you’ll find deep in the park are Margerie and Grand Pacific.

    5Chichagof Island
Chichagof is a great location for wildlife. We’ll be watching for bears on shore and whales off our bow!

    6Lynn Canal/Captain's Choice
Lynn Canal is actually a fjord – the deepest in North America! This inlet is busy with humpback whales, Dall’s porpoise, orcas, Steller sea lions, salmon, halibut, and river otters. The captain will be looking for the best place to anchor for adventure: will you be paddling out in search of a closer look at the wildlife, or checking tide pools on the shore, or hiking through the forest with bald eagles up above?

    7Haines
Haines is an eagle hotspot. You can hike with guides to the top of Chilkat Peninsula, or raft on the Chilkat River through the bald eagle preserve – either way, you’ll enjoy the view! Chilkat Tlingit members will come aboard to present their cultural history and legacy. We’ll have some free time in town where you can see the sites on foot or bike. Tonight we’ll celebrate with a Farewell Dinner and special presentation by the expedition team.

    8Disembark in Juneau
After breakfast, transfer to the airport or extend your stay with a hotel package.

Alaska Awakening

New for 2018, cruise ships will be headed North for Alaska earlier in Spring than ever before. Yes, the weather will be colder, but you’ll be able to experience Alaska as it wakes from winter slumber! Bears, just up from their hibernation, will be rummaging along the coastline in search of fish and other food. Flowers and trees will have begun showing new growth. Although there’s still a nip in the air, the ice has begun to thaw.

Onboard Activities

This ship is equipped for your Alaska Adventure! Onboard, you’ll have access to kayaks, paddle boards, inflatable skiffs, and fitness equipment. There will be onboard yoga or other wellness activities. And you’re always welcome to warm up after your adventures in the onboard hot tub!
