L’Impressionniste is a 12-passenger barge that cruises southern Burgundy along the Canal de Bourgogne. Onboard is casual, but the accommodations are upscale. The salon and dining area are designed for comfort and relaxed socializing. You’ll make easy friends with whoever you meet on the sun deck for a glass of wine! Take a leisurely walk on the towpath, or relax in the ondeck hot tub. During the days, explore medieval castles, hospitals, and wineries – glimpses of life 500 years ago! Plus, visit Dijon – yes, the mustard! Burgundy may be famous for its wine, but Dijon is famous for its mustard, which you’ll find an many cheerful boutiques in town.
The onboard chef will be creating regionally inspired fare throughout the week, with light buffet at lunch and multi-course gourmet dinner with fine wine pairings from local vineyards. Breakfast will be continental, consisting of fresh baked goods from a local boulangerie, cheese, cereal, fruit, yogurt, coffee, juice and tea. Sample lunch could include vichyssoise, saffron and vegetable risotto, pasta with homemade pesto, green salad with avocado and spring onion, and an assortment of local cheeses. A sample dinner could include pan friend scallops with raspberry dressing, fresh endive and mango salad, duck breast with red wine and berries sauce, carrots Vichy, Brussels sprouts, assorted local cheeses, and crepes Suzette.
