Tui Tai

Tui Tai

I wanted more than a vacation.  I wanted an adventure and Tui Tai Adventure Cruise provided just that.  I spent 10 nights in Fiji and Tui Tai was the highlight of my trip.  I hiked up the side of a dormant volcano and walked along the craters edge peering into the crater.  What a spectacular view.  The water was a beautiful aqua blue.

Tui Tai provided kayaking up lazy rivers and inside Cobia (thom-bee-a) crater, mountain biking through tropical rain forest with vines dangling from tree branches, plus a visit to a waterfall which was the perfect setting for a massage.

We visited the island of Kioa.  This island is inhabited by people from Tuvalu, a country located north of Fiji.  The people of this island have unique costumes and music.  They don’t have any instruments except for a wooden platform which they cover with a woven mat.  The platform is drummed creating a rhythmic beat which gets faster and faster with each round of song.  I met with the village chief who invited me to come back and bring some friends.  There are only a few ships that are allowed to visit this island.  I felt so privileged to have this experience.

Snorkeling in 80 degree water is my favorite activity in the world.  I’ve snorkeled all over and Fiji has the best variety and colors under the sea.  Brilliant orange and neon pink soft corals waving in the water.  Fish with rainbow colors and giant cobalt blue sea stars clinging to the rocks are abundant everywhere.
Tui Tai Adventure Cruise

Tui Tai at Night

After a full day of adventure, we would retreat back to our luxury accommodations aboard Tui Tai.  Cruising on a small ship gave us the opportunity to visit islands, bays, lagoons, secluded beaches, rivers and waterfalls that big ships only dream of.  This is one cruise that everyone should experience in their lifetime.  ~chris~
