Your Itinerary

    1Embark in Juneau
    Welcome aboard the Safari Quest!

    2Icy Strait
Adventure is on the itinerary today, from kayaking through remote bays, to taking out a skiff and watching the sea lions, and even taking a muddy hike with a guide.

    3Glacier Bay National Park
A National Park ranger will come onboard today to point out amazing off-the-map places. South Marble Island is great for bird watching, and home to many loud and lazy sea lions. The narrow Tidal Inlet is a great area to watch for bears and mountain goats. You can also take a forest hike at Bartlett Cove, the park’s headquarters, before we say goodbye to the ranger.

    4Chatham Strait
Chatham stretches 150 miles into the Tongass National Forest. The Captain will find the best place to anchor for the day, and your adventure begins! Hike thru moss-covered trees. Or kayak and paddle board along the shore line in search of seals.

    5Kuiu Island
You’ll spot salmon along the coastline – which means black bears on the shore! Get a closer look from a kayak or skiff in the intertidal zones of Saginaw Bay. Eagles will be eyeing those salmon, as well. Keep your eyes peeled.

    6Frederick Sound
These waters fill up with krill, which attracts humpback whales! If you’re out on deck before breakfast, you’ll see whales enjoying theirs. We’ll cruise past Alaska’s oldest light station, Five Fingers Lighthouse. There’ll usually be sea lions on the rocks of the Brothers Islands, unless a bear’s been walking by.

    7Endicott Arm/Dawes Glacier
Have your video cameras ready for calving ice in this wilderness area. Icebergs, glaciers, and snow-covered mountains will be the backdrop of your last day of adventure. If the tides are right, the ship can slip into Fords Terror, with steep walls covered in waterfalls. At the end of Endicott Arm, you’ll find Dawes Glacier. After our Farewell Dinner, your crew and guides will put on a ‘photo journal’ presentation of your amazing cruise together.

    8Disembark in Juneau
After breakfast, transfer to the airport or extend your stay with a hotel package.

Alaska Awakening

Starting in 2018, cruise ships will be headed North for Alaska earlier in Spring than ever before. Yes, the weather will be colder, but you’ll be able to experience Alaska as it wakes from winter slumber! Bears, just up from their hibernation, will be rummaging along the coastline in search of fish and other food. Flowers and trees will have begun showing new growth. Although there’s still a nip in the air, the ice has begun to thaw.

Onboard Activities

This ship is equipped for your Alaska Adventure! Onboard, you’ll have access to kayaks, paddle boards, inflatable skiffs, and fitness equipment. There will be onboard yoga or other wellness activities. And you’re always welcome to warm up after your adventures in the onboard hot tub!
