The Luciole is a perfect introduction for those who have never done barge cruising in Europe before. This family-owned barge has a warm atmosphere, and cruises the Canal du Nivernais in Northern Burgundy. This route from Auxerre to Clamecy is arguably the most beautiful, with rustic lock houses, sweeping French landscapes, and monumental rock formations. Embrace the countryside lifestyle with a bike ride along the towpath, or take a stroll in the evening, near where your barge is tethered. Life aboard a barge moves at quite a slow pace, so relax with your glass of wine in the salon, or find a place to rest on deck and just marvel at the simplicity of French country life.

Gourmet Dining
Your onboard chef will be offering regionally inspired fare, from the finest local ingredients. Breakfast will be continental, with fresh baked goods from a local boulangerie, with cheese, fruit, cereal, and yogurt. Lunch is normally a light buffet. A sample lunch could include roasted globe artichokes with mixed peppers, parma ham and camembert fondue, and a selection of cheeses. Dinner is a multi-course gourmet experience, with grand table settings and wine pairings from area vineyards. A sample dinner menu could include crab and crawfish remoulade with avocado and red chile puree, rack of lamb with a blackberry mint jus on a rosemary potato cake, and chocolate Grand Marnier cheesecake!
