4Natchez, MS

Founded in 1776, original settlers of New Madrid were required to become official citizens of Spain. A number of Americans settled there. In a three year period, the territory was traded to France and then sold to the United States. Today, the two remains committed to remembering its history, with sites including the Trail of Tears Park and the Kochtitsky Home.

9Paducah, KY
Where rivers come together, so do people. At the confluence of the Ohio and Tennessee Rivers, you’ll find the building of history quite tangible. Walk through Paducah and remember the Chicasaw village which preceded the town. View the history through the Wall-to-Wall mural collection of more than 50 murals.

11St. Louis, MO
Parked on the riverfront, you’ll have the best view of the Gateway Arch! Ride the arch to the top (630 feet) to get the best view of the city and the river. You can also visit the Museum of Westward Expansion to learn about the people who created the nation we live in now: the explorers, cowboys and Native Americans. Other popular destinations in St. Louis include: the Anheuser Busch Brewery, home of the Clydesdale horses; a driving tour of the 1371 acre Forest Park in the city; the art museum, science center and so much more.
