Welcome aboard the Queen of the Mississippi!

    2Cruising the Mississippi River
Board your ship and be treated to a welcome reception. Get to know your fellow travelers and savor the view as you enjoy the afternoon cruising the mighty Mississippi River.

    3Baton Rouge, LA
Meaning “red stick,” Baton Rouge’s 1699 French name references an ancient geographical marker and reflects the city’s long history. As Louisiana’s state capital, the city still echoes with tales of the characters who lived here, most notably Governor and Senator Huey P. Long. Learn about his dramatic career at the magnificent 1852 Old State Capitol Museum and visit Long’s 1932 State Capitol building, an architectural marvel of granite and marble

    4Natchez, MS
Enjoy a private city tour with a local expert guide who can point out the influences of different groups of people who have left their mark in Natchez, from the indigenous Native American to the European and African cultures. Other optional activities for today include a tour of the Frogmore Plantation where you’ll be able to pick cotton from the fields and witness the technology that creates 900 bales per day.

    5Vicksburg, MS
You cannot visit Vicksburg without touring the Battle of Vicksburg location, now a National Military Park. You’ll see the restored gunboat, the USS Cairo, as well as walk the battlefield of the Siege of Vicksburg.

Founded in 1776, original settlers of New Madrid were required to become official citizens of Spain. A number of Americans settled there. In a three year period, the territory was traded to France and then sold to the United States. Today, the two remains committed to remembering its history, with sites including the Trail of Tears Park and the Kochtitsky Home.

    9Paducah, KY
Where rivers come together, so do people. At the confluence of the Ohio and Tennessee Rivers, you’ll find the building of history quite tangible. Walk through Paducah and remember the Chicasaw village which preceded the town. View the history through the Wall-to-Wall mural collection of more than 50 murals.
