Your Itinerary

    1Las Vegas
    Arrive in Las Vegas and enjoy the splendid comfort of the Venetian Resort (or similar) in the heart of the Strip. The evening is open for you to take in a show, games of chance or dinner in any one of the dozens of world-class restaurants around our hotel. The tour manager will be available to meet and greet this afternoon.

    2Grand Canyon National Park
    After breakfast, enjoy a scenic drive to the Grand Canyon, where we have included a driving tour of the South Rim, with five di!erent vantage points. Aftr watching the sun set over the Grand Canyon, join us for our welcome dinner. Tonight is spent at the excellent Best Western Premier Canyon/ Squire Inn, near the park entrance. (B,D)

    3Zion National Park
    Mid-morning, travel to stunning Zion National Park, so named because early settlers were so inspired by its beauty that they bestowed exalted names on the park and its natural features, including the Court of the Patriarchs and the Great White Throne. This afternoon, enjoy time at leisure, perhaps taking the free Zion Canyon shuttle or hiking the park’s scenic trails. Relax on the first of 2 nights in the comfortable Best Western Plus Ruby’s Inn.     Appreciate a picturesque journey en route to Bryce Canyon, driving through the rugged landscape of Capitol Reef National Park, hideout for the infamous Butch Cassidy and his Wild Bunch. In western themed Bryce Canyon City, begin the first of a two night stay at our carefully chosen hotel. (B,L)

    5Canyonland National Park
    After breakfast, a scenic drive north to Canyonlands National Park, known for its dramatic desert landscape carved by the Colorado River. You’ll admire the panoramic views from Island in the Sky, a massive, flat-topped mesa. Later tonight, enjoy the charm of downtown Moab with its restaurants, galleries and boutiques, with a stay at Springhill Suites by Marriott or similar. (B,D)

    6Arches National Park
    This morning you’ll tour incredible Arches National Park, where the forces of nature have acted in concert to create a wonderland of eroded sandstone fins, towers, ribs, gargoyles, hoodoos, balanced rocks and, of course, the largest proliferation of arches in the world. After lunch, you’ll have ample free time in Moab before departing for Green River, UT to board the Great Western Limited, where dinner and comfortable Pullman sleeping car accommodations await. Enjoy drinks in the Observation Lounge as we roll west, California bound. (B,D)

    7The High Sierra & Sonora
    After breakfast, you’ll ascend the Sierra Nevada Range, passing Donner Lake, Blue Canyon and American River Canyon on this storied line. After lunch, disembark at Sacramento and drive south to the historic Gold Rush town of Sonora to begin your two night stay in this charming town. (B,L)

    8Yosemite National Park
    Drive into Yosemite, spending all day in this stunning Park. Included is a tour of the valley floor with views of Half Dome, Bridal Veil Falls, Tunnel View, El Capitan and more. There will be time to see the visitors center along with free time for hiking or photography. Later, return to Sonora for another evening in this old west town. (B,L)

    9Old Sacramento
    After breakfast, depart for historic Old Sacramento, with a visit to the acclaimed California State Railroad Museum. You’ll have free time to explore the extraordinary Crocker Art Museum and the wooden sidewalks and restored Gold Rush era buildings of Old Sacramento. Later tonight is our farewell dinner, and as befits a tour rich in history, our hotel tonight is the historic riverboat Delta King, twin of the fabled Delta Queen and now a small, elegant hotel permanently docked in Old Sacramento.
